10 Of My Favorite Foods

"Eating is not merely a material pleasure. Eating well gives a spectacular joy to life and contributes immensely to goodwill and happy companionship. It is of great importance to the morale"

-Elsa Schiaparelli

Well, here comes my favorite post of all, we’re talking about FOOOOOOD! I can't even think 5 of my favorite food since I love everything about it, since I am fortunate enough to got the opportunity to travel all around the world, I have discovered all types of food cuisine, when I come to different places, the first thing I would do is to try their local and traditional foods, discover the unique taste of it, I still even remember how it taste like, mmm… but after all, my favorite food will always be the one that i grew up with, comfort and homie kind of food. Well, let’s start!

#1 CHICKEN CHOP

Despite my (not too) far-fetched claims of extraordinariness, I’m actually a rather typical Malaysian. So if you are anything like me, it is most likely that your first encounter with Western food is the chicken chop.
I grew up automatically linking Western cuisine with chicken chop, then fish and chips, then steak, then lamb, then pasta. It wasn’t till I was much older when I realized that hey, no one outside of Malaysia or Singapore knows what the heck a chicken chop is! It is not even to be found on Wikipedia!!!

Then I was duly informed that the chicken chop is a local creation: I’m not able to provide a history of how it came about, but it may have something to do with the Hainanese in Malaysia. I suppose it’s the evolution of pork chops to lamb chops to hey, let’s grill this chicken too and call it chicken chop.

A chicken chop as I know it is a piece of de-boned chicken thigh, breaded and deep-fried or just plain grilled or pan-fried. Its accompanying sauces are usually black pepper or mushroom which you pour all over the chicken. In KL there’s the Hailam sauce which I don’t quite fancy because of its slight sweetness.
The usual side dishes that come with the chicken chop are the coleslaw and French fries. Variations? Assorted vegetables, mashed potatoes or rice, whatever suits your fancy. Thus fulfilling the requirement of meat + carbs + greens. Very Western, or at least it seems so in our Asian minds!

#2 PIZZA

Pizza is a flat bread generally topped with tomato sauce and cheese and baked in an oven. It is commonly topped with a selection of meats, vegetables and condiments.

In Kuala Lumpur, it is very hard to find a good old pizzas rather than a typical pizzas restaurant such as Pizza Hut and Domino’s, but my new discovery were right here in Kota Damansara, Patty & Pie, the pizza here is nothing else like the typical pizza you usually taste, they made their own tomato sauce, they made the pizza once the customer ordered, rolling the flour, pretty much start from the scratch, that’s what makes the flatbread fluffy and soft, and fresh I think. Well pretty much that’s what makes their pizza unique! You can give them a visit at 40, Jalan PJU 1/45, Aman Suria, 47301 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

This picture is the actual picture of the pizza and the oven used in Patty & Pie, a must try for all local Malaysian! ;)

#3 MASAK LEMAK CILI PADI

The specialty from Negeri Sembilan is the masak lemak cili padi, which is a spicy rich yellow coconut gravy that is cooked with bird's eyes chillies. While this dish uses chicken, it can be substituted with prawns or a firm white fish.

#4 MACARONI AND CHEESE

Consisting of cooked macaroni pasta and cheese, most commonly Cheddar cheese, though it can also incorporate other ingredients, such as bread crumbs, meat and vegetables. Traditional macaroni and cheese is a casserole baked in the oven; however, it may be prepared in a sauce pan on top of the stove or using a packaged mix. It is considered an American comfort food.

#5 CHAR KWAY TEOW

Char kway teow, literally "stir-fried ricecake strips", is a popular noodle dish in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia. The dish is considered a national favorite in Malaysia and Singapore.
It is made from flat rice noodles (河粉 hé fěn in Chinese) or kway teow (粿条 guǒ tiáo in Chinese) of approximately 1 cm or (in the north of Malaysia) about 0.5 cm in width, stir-fried over very high heat with light and dark soy sauce, chilli, a small quantity of belachan, whole prawns, bean sprouts and chopped Chinese chives. The dish is commonly stir-fried with egg, slices of Chinese sausage and fishcake, and less commonly with other ingredients.

#6 CURRY MEE

Curry Mee (Malay: mee kari; simplified Chinese: 咖喱面; traditional Chinese: 咖喱麵; pinyin: Gālímiàn) is a dish that is unique to Malaysia and Singapore, usually made up of thin yellow noodles or/and string thin mee-hoon (rice vermicelli) with spicy curry soup, chilli/sambal, coconut milk, and a choice of dried tofu, prawns, cuttlefish, chicken, egg, mint leaves and cockle.

In certain places in Southeast Asia, especially southern Malaysia and Singapore, it is called "curry laksa" (Malay: laksa kari; Chinese: 咖喱喇沙; pinyin: Gālí Lǎshā). It is a cross between the Singapore laksa and a spicy variation of the mee rebus (an Indonesian noodle dish with yellow noodles.

#7 LOADED FRIES

French fries (American English), chips, fries, finger chips, or French-fried potatoes are batons of deep-fried potato. French fries are served hot, either soft or crispy, and generally eaten as part of lunch or dinner, or on their own as a snack, and they commonly appear on the menus of fast food restaurants. French fries are generally salted and are often served with ketchup, loaded fries is basically a French fries with minced mint leaves with loads and I mean LOADSSSSS of cheese! My mouth is watering just thinking of it. Loaded fries is an example of a simple comfy food with punch of taste.

#8 DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER

Two 100% beefy patties simply seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper, two slices of melty American cheese, tangy pickles, minced onions, ketchup and mustard. Show your taste buds some lovin’ with this local option.

#9 CINNABON

Cinnabon is a chain of American baked goods stores and kiosks, normally found in areas with high pedestrian traffic such as malls and airports.

#10 CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

A chocolate chip cookie is a drop cookie that originated in the United States and features chocolate chips as its distinguishing ingredient. The traditional recipe combines a dough composed of butter and both brown and white sugar with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Variations include recipes with other types of chocolate as well as additional ingredients such as nuts or oatmeal.

Well, that's pretty much it for 10 of my favorite food... Food, in the end, in our own tradition, is something holy. It's not about nutrients and calories. It's about sharing. It's about honesty. It's about identity. Until next time!

MY FAVOURITE FOOD:TEMPOYAK

Living in Malaysia makes one knows all the food there is in universe. From western food to eastern cuisine, Malaysian have to chance to try all sort of food from all over the world due to the overloading restaurants and diners.

But there is popular food in Malaysia that will left you wanting more and more. If one cannot survived durian, then they sure can try tempoyak.

Fermented durian, or tempoyak, is one of my favourite delicacies. It is a traditional condiment in Malaysia and Indonesia often mixed with coconut milk curries or pounded with chilies into a spicy dip.  It was developed as a way to both use overripe or poor quality durians and preserve them through the months after durian season.I love tempoyak because of its amazing smell and taste. But tempoyak is not usually eaten just like that, it's usually eaten as a side dish or as an ingredients for cooking such as gulai tempoyak ikan patin or ikan tempoyak. It is best served with warm rice.

One can alter the flavor by allowing the durian to ferment for different lengths of time and adding different amounts of salt. Less salt makes the tempoyak more sour, while more salt both makes the tempoyak more salty and allows it to keep for 3-6 months without being refrigerated.

Tempoyak is specifically popular in the state of Pahang and Perak in Malaysia. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, it's popular in Palembang, Sumatera and Kalimantan. Although how bad the taste of durian is(for some people!), tempoyak is most likely to change your view of the magnificient fruit king once you have a taste of it!

Nasi Lemak
Nasi lemak its name in Malay literally means "oily or fatty rice", but is taken in this context to mean "rich" or "creamy".The name is derived from the cooking process whereby rice is soaked in coconut cream and then the mixture steamed. The rice is normally cooked with pandan leaves that gives it a distinctive flavour.
Traditionally, nasi lemak is served with a hot spicy sauce (sambal), and usually include various garnishes, including fresh cucumber slices, small fried  (ikan bilis), roasted peanuts, and hard-boiled or fried egg.As a more substantial meal, nasi lemak also be served with an additional protein dish such as ayam goreng (fried chicken), sambal sotong (cuttlefish in chili), small fried fish, and on special occasions rendang daging (beef) stewed in coconut milk and spices).Other accompaniments include stir fried water convolvulus  and spicy pickled vegetables salad. Traditionally most of these accompaniments are spicy in nature.
Nasi lemak is widely eaten in Malaysia and Singapore. More commonly consumed as breakfast in both countries, it is commonly sold at hawker food centres and roadside stalls in Malaysia and Singapore. This unique dish often comes wrapped in banana leaves, newspaper or brown paper, or it in some shops served on a plate. However, owing to its popularity there are restaurants which serve it as a noon or evening meal, making it possible for the dish to be eaten all day. Nasi lemak kukus which means "steamed nasi lemak" is another name given to nasi lemak served with steamed rice. In Malaysia, nasi lemak also can be found in a night market with a variety of dishes.

Acid Rain

ACID RAIN

What is Acid Rain?
  • Acid rain is a result of air pollution. When any type of fuel is burnt, lots of different chemicals are produced. The smoke that comes from a fire or the fumes that come out of a car exhaust don't just contain the sooty grey particles that you can see - they also contains lots of invisible gases that can be even more harmful to our environment.Power stations, factories and cars all burn fuels and therefore they all produce polluting gases. Some of these gases (especially nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide) react with the tiny droplets of water in clouds to form sulfuric and nitro acids. The rain from these clouds then falls as very weak acid - which is why it is known as "acid rain".
Effect of Acid Rain

  • Acid rain can be carried great distances in the atmosphere, not just between countries but also from continent to continent. The acid can also take the form of snow, mists and dry dusts. The rain sometimes falls many miles from the source of pollution but wherever it falls it can have a serious effect on soil, trees, buildings and water.Forests all over the world are dying, fish are dying. In Scandinavia there are dead lakes, which are crystal clear and contain no living creatures or plant life. Many of Britain's freshwater fish are threatened, there have been reports of deformed fish being hatched. This leads to fish-eating birds and animals being affected also. Is acid rain responsible for all this? Scientists have been doing a lot of research into how acid rain affects the environment.

BEATBOX

BEATBOX

Beatbox is being able to communicate musically and create a unique performance is fascinating especially when you start fusing genres that otherwise wouldnt concide with each other.that's why i have started the concept collection, to explore collaboration in vocalism.oh, and to have a whole load of fun in the process!

The World Beatbox Association or WBA was originally founded in 2010.Today the WBA executive curator is Chesney Snow. The WBA produced the first American Beatbox Championship in 2010. It also featured beatboxers from overseas, including reeps one, Hobbit, Lytos, LOS, Ezra, and krnfx.

 common sounds and imitaion
Some of these sounds have two different iterations: one used while exhaling air while the other used while inhaling air, allowing the artist to continue practicing without having to take an actual breath. A skilled beat boxer has the ability to imitate many types of sounds including those of a classic drum set, turn table, electronic effects, trumpet, and electric guitar.

I think that today’s younger generation of beatboxers are on another level. Some of the techniques I have heard recently are mind-boggling. I don’t count myself as part of that generation as I’m a bit older, obviously haha. So I think for beatboxers like myself it may be more of a challenge to break new ground, but having said that, it’s the same for every genre of music and not only music; but life in general.

20 FASHION DO'S & DON'TS

Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behaviour and the newest creations of textile designers. Because the more technical term costume is regularly linked to the term "fashion", the use of the former has been relegated to special senses like fancy dress or masquerade wear, while "fashion" generally means clothing, including the study of it. Although aspects of fashion can be feminine or masculine, some trends are androgynous.

Every day you’re going to be faced with fashion do’s and don’ts. There are critics around every corner and on every soap box. I will be the first person to tell you to not listen to that crud. Do yourself a favour and ignore them. We’re being told not to wear this because it will make us look fat. Or not to wear a certain colour because it’s not good for our skin tone.

WHAT? This is not the true meaning of fashion! I’m here to help you out and give you the fashion do’s and don’ts you really need! Just so you know I love all of these but #20 is my favourite
#1 DON'T be afraid to break the "fashion rules." Remember...rules were meant to be broken loves!
#2 DO wear stripes! Wear them horizontally or vertically. Still not sold? Try them on shoes or your favourite accessories. Fashion via Nordstrom
#3 DON'T let fear get the best of your outfits. Fashion is supposed to be fun! Image courtesy of FreeDigitalPhotos.net
#4 DO wear bright colours and bold prints. Be daring! There's nothing to be scared of. Fashion via Mod Cloth
#5 DON'T let the size on the tag fool you. If it looks like it might fit you, try it on. Thanks to vanity sizing, sizes can be off! Image courtesy of FreeDigitalPhotos.net
#6 DO mix prints. Wear that polka dot tank or striped top with your floral skirt! Fashion via ASOS
#7 DON'T be scared to show some skin. Try the cut out trend, a crop or sheer top, or that leg-baring maxi dress. Fashion via Forever 21
#8 DO wear bright white. And lots of it! Never fear this color! Image courtesy of FreeDigitalPhotos.net
#9 DON'T criticize what other women are wearing. This is my major pet peeve! We need to support each other. Image courtesy of FreeDigitalPhotos.net
#10 DON’T: Tights as Pants Think of tights as an accessory. Would you ever wear a purse as a dress? Yeah, that’s what we thought.
#11 DON’T: Designer Logo-Palooza A small designer logo or emblem can be cute and classy, but never literally wear the brand name head-to-toe.
#12 DON’T: The Face Cape We’ll never again take for granted the ability to breathe and see while wearing clothes.
#13 DO layer mini dresses over jeans. Own a shortie that’s too skin-exposing for cold weather? In Seattle, they pair them with fitted jeans. Perfect for taking a stroll to (the original!) Starbucks. Comfy!
#14 DO keep the look casual Want to take a summery dress into fall? Ditch the flip-flops for a pair of cool boots, like Kate, Halle and Hilary. So Hollywood. *Basic boot rule They Don’t qualify as pants. Try leggings or sweater tights if you’re wearing a micro-mini. The shirtdress: a classic DO Why will it always be in style? Because you can dress it up for work and down for the weekend
#15 DO dress for the weather Sienna Miller and Dakota and Elle Fanning’s formula for staying warm at Sundance? Snuggly jackets, good jeans, cozy boots. Très chic!
#16 DO mix it all up Cool, colourful dresses, chic hairdos and fun footwear—Austin, Texas, we love y’all.
#17 DO go dressy in the daytime Listen up: Dresses aren’t just for parties and work! Ditch your jeans one Sunday, like these women in South Carolina did. *A dress for all shapes it’s flattering on practically every body type: the wrap.
#18 DON’T: no-shape suits It looks like she’s got a great body…somewhere in there.
#19 DO: black & white These women worked the trend in New York City. How to do it so you don’t look like a caterer: Go with a sexy low-cut blouse, accessorize with fun stuff like a snappy fedora or commit to just one colour! And lastly,
#20 DO wear whatever you want. You are a fashionistas and true fashion is for those who wish to express themselves through their clothing. Image courtesy of FreeDigitalPhotos.net Here's also my additional bits for you girls out there The Right Clothes for Your Body Type How to find the most flattering clothes for your shape Getting dressed is a whole lot easier when you know what pieces work best for your shape. Most women fall into one of four categories: circle (thick around the middle), triangle (larger at the bottom), hourglass (curvy but evenly proportioned), and rectangle (straight up and down). Here, three seasoned fashion experts―Simon Kneen, executive vice president of design for Banana Republic; Isaac Mizrahi, creative director of Liz Claiborne; and Bridgette Raes, author of Style Rx: Dressing the Body You Have to Create the Body You Want

Identify the four styles that fit each figure best.
If You’re a Circle
If You’re a Triangle
If You’re an Hourglass
If You’re a Rectangle
Dress for Your Shape: The Hourglass The Hourglass With an ample chest, a narrow waist, and full (but not wide) hips, this shape, although evenly proportioned, can seem as if it’s all angles. “Choose clothes that work and move with your natural curves, not against them,” says Raes. Styles to avoid: Shapeless or boxy styles, like baby-doll dresses, tunics, and oversize cardigans.
High-Waisted Pants This pair hits at the natural waistline, so it draws the eye to a thin middle.
Wrap Dress “A wrap creates a diagonal movement across the body that is really forgiving,” says Kneen.
V-Neck Top A close-fitting blouse with an open neckline flatters curves without exaggerating them
Pencil Skirt This classic silhouette works best on hourglass figures because it accentuates the waist and skims over the hips.
Dress for Your Shape: The Circle The Circle If you tend to gain weight around the middle (or you simply want to hide a few post-pregnancy pounds), clothes should fit loosely around the midsection (to conceal a full stomach) and more snugly elsewhere (to play up thin limbs). Styles to avoid: Anything that draws attention to the middle―like high-rise pants, belts, and waist-cinching tops.
Slim-Cut Pants Long and lean, these let trim legs take center stage. Pair them with a blousy top or a tunic.
Shift Dress “This structured style helps slim trouble areas―especially when worn with high heels,” says Mizrahi.

Tunic A relaxed cut glides over the stomach. “Look for styles with pleating or voluminous sleeves, which look modern,” says Kneen.
Empire-Waist Top A waistline that rests just below the bust will emphasize a narrow rib cage and camouflage the stomach.
The Rectangle With little definition at the waist, this straight-up-and-down figure is often considered boyish. Opt for styles that fit snugly at your middle but flare out at the bottom (whether it’s a skirt or pants) to create curves. Styles to avoid: Dresses that are tight all over and anything too flowy or unstructured around the waist, like Empire-waist top
Boot-Cut Pants A slim fit at the hips that graduates to slightly wider hems gives the impression of all-around shapeliness.
Fitted Jacket “A nipped-in blazer creates a waist and the appearance of fuller hips,” says Isaac Mizrahi, creative director of Liz Claiborne.
Feminine Top Ruffles and wispy sleeves add volume to the bust and shoulders, making the waist look smaller in comparison.
Flared Skirt A flouncy hem contrasted with a tapered waist gives the illusion of an hourglass
The Triangle The triangle shape is defined as shoulders and torso that are narrower than the hips. Styles to avoid: Shapeless, oversize sweaters; skinny jeans and pants; and skirts in a flimsy, curve-hugging fabric, like silk.
Find Wide-Leg Pants A dark pair slenderizes the thighs while creating a longer and slimmer silhouette.
Look for a Tailored Jacket A structured jacket plays up the shoulders, which evens out the lower body’s proportions.

Try a Boat neck Top The wide neckline broadens the shoulders to offset fuller hips.

Wear A-Line Skirts Its non-clinging design is a godsend. “Look for a tapered A-line to avoid appearing too triangular,” says Bridgette Raes, author of Style Rx: Dressing the Body You Have to Create the Body You Want

I hope all of this tips of do's and don'ts and how to dress in your figure will help you girls, remember to always embrace yourself, be fierce and always passionate in everything you do!
